    2:00pm - 3:00pm
    Session Type: RPA
    Session Capacity: N/A

Plastic piping materials used for geothermal ground loop piping must provide corrosion& chemical resistance, flexibility, impact resistance, and long-term hydrostatic strength (pressure capability). Piping materials must withstand wide swings in operating temperature, and are expected to perform in buried environments for decades. Only a few materials are qualified for ground loop piping, and this presentation will describe the types of HDPE, PEX, PE-RT and PP which are recommended. Design techniques and multiple installation methods will be explained. Finally, the latest industry standards will be introduced, as well as future changes to mechanical codes that affect geothermal systems.
